Jim Clark and Team Lotus scored a famous victory in the Indianapolis 500 on 31st May 1965.
The British team came and dominated the race at the fabled 'brickyard', Jimmy driving the Lotus-Ford type 38. He set numerous records during the race with a winning speed of 150.686mph, recording the first win for a rear-engined car in the Indy 500 and the first victory for a Ford engine.
The painting shows Jimmy's winning Lotus (chassis 38/1) leading AJ Foyt in the early laps, through turn two.

We originated this record of all the monoposto (single seat, open wheel) Lotus racing cars to define the heart of the Classic Team Lotus business. It became a labour of love for Lotus technical illustrator John Hostler who created all the images with advice and encouragement from Andrew Ferguson. This print has proved itself as an invaluable quick reference in countless situations. If you buy only one thing then this should be it!

We were very excited when we stumbled across the original general arrangement drawing for the Team Lotus type 49. G.A. drawings were not created for every car because, frankly, they took a lot of time and were not particularly useful. But they look great! Particularly the type 49 that captures the elegant simplicity of this wonderful car.
The condition of the original made good quality reproduction impractical. We created a direct tracing of the original and this updated version now includes win decals.

Our technical drawings are normally only used for the production of spare parts, but among our vast collection of drawings are some real gems and this is one of the very best.
Originally drawn by Maurice Phillippe in February 1970 and subsequently updated by him in October 1970 and again in November 1972.
Each time the Type 72 won a Grand Prix a win decal was put on the rear wing. These have been added to the drawing to celebrate the 20 wins, from the first at the 1970 Dutch GP to the last at the 1974 Italian GP.
From an original painting by Andrew Kitson, Clark driving his Lotus–Climax 25 (R6) held off Hill’s BRM P261 to win by only 2.8 seconds, in a classic era of British driver success when Jimmy Clark and Team Lotus were the benchmark.

Introduced in 1958, Formula Junior was the training ground for future Grand Prix drivers. Jim Clark's Lotus 18 leads John Surtees at Goodwood, on March 19th 1960. This was Clark's first single seater victory and also Surtees' first ever car race, driving Ken Tyrrell's Cooper-Austin. Starting from pole position, he enjoyed a good dice with Clark, who won the 10 lap race and recorded the fastest lap. This was also the first ever victory for a Ford Cosworth engine.
This was a very significant moment for Team Lotus and, as ever, Andrew Kitson has captured it in a splendid way. Classic Team Lotus is pleased and proud to have been invited by Andrew to endorse another of his fine Team Lotus paintings.
The 1970 Monaco Grand Prix produced one of the most dramatic finishes in the history of formula one. With 20 laps to go Jack Brabham had a lead of 14 seconds over Jochen Rindt. But Jochen reduced the deficit and started the final lap right behind Jack who made a mistake on the last corner of the last lap and Jochen took the win. This remarkable last lap also produced a new lap record for the Lotus driver.

1985 at the Portuguese Grand Prix in Estoril saw the start of the rise to legendary status of the late, great Ayrton Senna. In the most appalling conditions, driving the JPS Lotus Renault 97T/2, Senna is seen celebrating his first-ever Formula One Grand Prix victory, safety harness flapping in the wind and almost out of the cockpit with delight.
In the background the euphoric pit crew jump for joy to mark this win and the first for the team since the death of their founder, the brilliant innovator Colin Chapman.

Classic Team Lotus is proud to present this wonderful portrait of Colin Chapman. It is by French artist Patrick Brunet and is printed on lovely parchment paper. The quality is of the highest standard. Patrick created a limited edition of 250. We like the picture so much we have made an arrangement to sell it on an exclusive basis.
The images are very evocative of Colin Chapman's spirit and his special friendship with Jim Clark. The text, in English and French (very euro . . ), reads "A perfectly developed form, free at last from its 'strait jacket'. It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing more to add but when there is nothing more to take away . . . the machine is concealed when it is fully developed". A very appropriate passage from "Terre des Hommes" by A de St Exupery.
We think this Lithographie 'Colin Chapman Lotus XXV', as titled by Monsieur Brunet, is very special. We are pleased that Mrs Hazel Chapman has applied her signature alongside that of the artist.
