THE SPIRIT OF THE MARQUE
Team Lotus International established the Classic activity to deal with all aspects of its
history. Classic Team Lotus has responsibility for the 58 Monoposto Team Lotus design
types from 1957 to 1990. These designs are a testimony to the dedication and innovative
skill of Colin Chapman and everyone involved with Team Lotus.
The objectives of Classic Team Lotus are to preserve and promote the history of the Team
and act as a point of focus for all the owners of the cars which established the Team
Lotus Legend. Classic Team Lotus will celebrate and perpetuate the Spirit of the Marque.
CLASSIC TEAM LOTUS REGISTER
The Register is intended to identify all the surviving Monoposto Team Lotus racing cars
and make contact with their owners. The Monoposto classification (single seat, open wheel)
encompasses 58 designs from the Team Lotus type 12 to the type 102. Of the estimated
1,400 manufactured, nearly 550 surviving chassis have been identified thanks to the
support of owners and enthusiasts across the world. Classic Team Lotus wants to help in
the preservation of these ultimate monuments to Team Lotus innovation.
HISTORIC TEAM LOTUS F1
A comprehensive service for the restoration, maintenance and operation of historic Team
Lotus Formula cars is available at the original factory facility. The work is undertaken
by the Team Lotus personnel who actually designed, built and operated the cars originally.
Access to original drawings and components plus new parts from the original manufacturers
ensure a prestigious and efficient service.
And for those owners who believe their cars were built to be raced, Classic Team Lotus
will organise everything from transport to race preparation at historic motorsport events.
Team Lotus is the only World Championship winning F1 Marque to have established a Works
team for historic motorsport.
CLASSIC COMPONENTS
To encourage and assist in the maintenance of surviving cars every effort is made to
satisfy enquiries regarding specific components. Original parts’ lists, design drawings,
engineers’ records, photographs and the Classic Collection enable the exact specification
of the component to be confirmed. Classic Team Lotus will be pleased to supply either an
original spare with appropriate certification or a new part made to the original
specification.
CLASSIC COLLECTION
Classic Team Lotus has an unrivalled collection of Team Lotus Formula One cars. The
establishment of a dedicated historic facility ensures all the cars are maintained to the
highest standard. Some of the cars are available for sale to Lotus enthusiasts. Buying a
car direct from the Team provides many unique benefits which enhance the value of such an important investment.
SHOWCARS
A selection of the truly great cars in the Classic Collection is available for display and
even demonstration at special events. Grand Prix winning Lotus Formula One cars as raced
by Clark, Hill, Fittipaldi, Andretti, Mansell and Senna create a great attraction.
LICENSING
Classic Team Lotus protects and promotes the commercial potential of Team Lotus history.
Model manufacturing and merchandising is encouraged, licensed and approved. The Team’s
archive of original design drawings, photographs and the actual cars are made available to
Licensees.
